Life is made up of a series of moments.
Oftentimes it’s the littlest things that mean the most.
In a moment, we can tell someone “I love you”, smile at a stranger, give a friend a hug, say a prayer for someone in need, or let someone know: “I’m sorry”, “thank you”, or “I’m here for you.”
This instant may be all that we have to bring joy to another person’s day, to post a message of kindness on FB, or call, email, or text “I miss you”, “You’re special”, or simply, “Thinking of you.”
It’s easy to say we don’t have the time, but in fact it may be the most valuable gift we have to give. And we never know when those minutes, days, years . . . may run out.
Perhaps this awareness is especially poignant during the holiday season.
I have lost three loved ones this past year and I wish I had a lot more moments to share my love and appreciation for all that they meant to me. And yes, they are still in my thoughts and heart. But it makes me more conscious of my family, friends and the people who are in my life now.
We can waste valuable time and irretrievable parts of our lives dwelling on the past or worrying about the future or our incessant “to do lists” and before we know it, we have less (or NO) time left to appreciate, enjoy, listen to, or comfort those we care about.
How can we take the time to be grateful for who is in our life right now? How can we be more spontaneous, generous, kind and loving?
THIS precious moment may be all we have. Let’s give it freely this holiday season.
Wishing you and all whom you hold dear a loving and peaceful holiday season!
