Just Ask 1 2 3 - HOW TO PLAY

Directions for Just Ask 1 2 3, an interactive game for 2 to 10 fun adults of any age

Just Ask 1 2 3 is a pathway to conversation, kindness and connection.

Each deck of 53 questions offers a variety of engaging, playful or insightful questions to spark spontaneity and have fun.  Deepen your relationships as you connect with new people or family and friends and those we think we know, including ourselves.

JUST ASK 1 2 3 offers different pathways to connecting:

Deck 1 Easing In – easy, playful questions to break the ice and have fun!

Deck 2 Getting Closer – thought-provoking questions to get to know each other better…including ourselves.

Deck 3 Delving Deeper – “Go ahead.  Ask away” 53 questions to share your thoughts, personal feelings and reflections.

Later:   Deck 4 Deepening Connections – Insightful and meaningful questions that expand awareness and support a deeper, authentic connection.

Each deck includes an ASK AND ANSWER YOUR OWN QUESTION as well as an instruction card.

Playing the Game:

Start with Deck 1 (or a deck of your choice).  Place the cards in the organza gift bag to pass for easy selecting. In a circle, one person starts by taking a question from the deck, reads it out loud and then starts their answer within 3 seconds, being spontaneous with whatever comes to mind.  Time to answer is limited to a minute or minute and a half.

Then the next person chooses a different question from the same deck and answers as above.

Each person may choose a question one time and say “Everyone” and every person gets to answer the same question.

You can decide to stay with that deck, especially if people are new and feeling comfortable with that level of questions OR you can do 2 or 3 rounds of this first deck and then switch to Deck 2.

If you are uncomfortable answering a question, one time, you can choose to pick another question, answer a question that has already been asked or give your question to someone else to answer.

The group can choose to stay with that deck which consists of 53 questions or be adventurous and move to Deck 3 which may take a little more time or thought to answer.

Important: Open sharing and listening create meaningful connections.

ALTERNATIVES:

Guess the answer! With people that you know well, a person reads a question and everyone has to guess what that person’s answer would be.

True or false:  You can play the game, but this time each person can give a true or false answer and the others have to guess if it is true or false.

WRITING PROMPTS: Use the questions as prompts for yourself or as a group writing exercise.

If you prefer a more competitive game, you can offer all three decks of different levels to choose from. Each person gets their turn to choose which deck they want to pick their question. They earn 1 point for questions in deck 1, 2 points for questions in deck 2 or 3 points in deck 3.  At the end of the game the person with the most adventurous spirit and the most points wins.
