Author Linda Commito Talks About the Magic and Practicalities of Collecting Other People’s Stories – Boulder Writer’s Workshop

Professional Member Linda Commito, Boulder, is the author of Love is the New Currency, a compilation of inspiring stories of ordinary people who have performed extraordinary acts of love and kindness. It received a 2012 EVVY Award for Inspiration Writing from the Colorado Independent Publisher’s Association (CIPA). Linda contextualizes the stories in her book within a framework of a global mindshift, in which the currency of love has a greater, more enduring value than monetary currency. She also asks readers to consider how they make meaning in their own lives, through exercises at the end of each chapter.

Linda grew up in New England where she received a BA in English from Stonehill College. A passion for connecting people has been integral to Linda’s success, not only as an author, but as an elementary school teacher, entrepreneur, facilitator, consultant and speaker. Linda was the founder of Commito and Company, a wholesale manufacturer’s representative firm for high-quality, home accessories and gift lines, which brought together committed sales reps with innovative retailers and interior designers in the Rocky Mountain states. Fifteen years later, Linda sold that company, which continues to do well. Linda then created and spent seven years facilitating CommitoConnections, a supportive, interactive and enriching community for successful women business owners.

Linda was inspired to begin researching her book when the phrase, “love is the new currency,” came to her in meditation. She spent three years discovering what was meaningful in people’s lives and what they were doing to create it. “I was compelled to write this book,” she says…
